Home Purchase Assistance Program Grant (HPAP) provides down payment and closing cost assistance to first-time buyers who meet program requirements. Grants of up to $3,000 are available for closing cost assistance to first-time buyers who are income eligible.This program allows low and moderate-income families to purchase homes in the City of Rochester. Home Rochester is a partnership between the City of Rochester and the Greater Rochester Housing Partnership. Homes are sold to income-qualified homebuyers who do not currently own residential property. Homebuyers must be able to qualify for a conventional, fixed-rate mortgage and contribute a minimum of $1,500 toward the purchase of the home. Homebuyers are required to occupy the home for a minimum of 15 years to satisfy the terms of subsidies used to rehabilitate and underwrite the home.

The HDP provides funds in the form of a grant to be used towards down payment and closing cost assistance to first-time homebuyers earning at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) and purchasing homes in New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
RHA Homeownership Voucher Program provides the opportunity for existing voucher holders to utilize their voucher subsidy to purchase a home and pay for monthly homeownership expenses. Upon becoming eligible for a mortgage and purchasing a house, RHA will make monthly mortgage assistance payments on behalf of the family. The amount of this assistance (similar to the rental program) is based upon the family’s income.
To assist with the dream of homeownership, the University has teamed up with the City of Rochester and several banks/credit unions to offer regular full-time and part-time faculty and staff, residents, and fellows * $9,000 toward the purchase of a primary residence. There are no maximum income requirements, but the plan requires five-year occupancy and employment commitments from the buyer.

All government employees may purchase ANY home on the market through Public Servant Next Door. Plus, you may be eligible for the Public Servant Next Door Grant and additional down payment assistance for government employees.
ALL healthcare professionals including nurses, medical staff, doctors and healthcare support staff employees are eligible for the Nurse Next Door Program. Grant amounts have been increased up to $8,000.00. You may also be eligible for additional down payment assistance for nurses and healthcare professionals.
